About

Medievalist, Gamer, Close Reader, Book Lover.

I came to medieval studies through the little Middle English poem Somer Soneday and never looked back. These days I primarily write about dance rhetoric in Middle English romance. I am interested in how our kinesthetic experiences—dancing, playing, walking—inform our reading of poetic forms and structures. I am also invested in how different page layouts and codicological features encourage (or discourage!) kinesthetic reading experiences.

When I’m not reading or writing about medieval poetry, I’m writing about video games and medievalism. I am interested in the connection between player movement and narrative design.
